| Commissions Reasons
for a commissioned painting
Thinking of a commissioned painting? Even
if your ideas are at the earliest stages, ring or email Jonathan
for an informal chat - there will be no commitment on your part
to progress further at this stage. Commissioning
a painting is a very personal process and the text we print here
is only intended to outline one possible route to the finished painting.
A commission can be used to mark a particular
occasion, celebration, achievement, place, person or to fulfill
a particular purpose or interest.
To ensure your specific desires are met through the commission process,
the next step is to arrange a meeting with Jonathan for you to discuss
your requirements in more detail.
Commission process
We suggest that the commission process follows five stages:
| 1. |
initial discussion |
| 2. |
preliminary
sketches |
| 3. |
presentation
of costed proposal |
| 4. |
agreement
of the final painting design, delivery date, fee and copyright
ownership |
| 5. |
painting executed
and delivered |
Costs
The fee for a painting is charged according to size. In addition,
Jonathan operates a sliding fee scale - the larger the painting
the less the cost per unit measure - for example:
| Painting size |
Cost |
Cost per square inch |
| 27 inches x 20 inches |
£1620 |
£3 |
| 20 inches x 12 inches |
£960 |
£4 |
12 inches x 9 inches
|
£648 |
£6 |
The price covers travelling costs for
all commissions within a 50-mile radius of Jonathan’s home
at Findhorn. Commissions undertaken beyond a 50-mile radius will
involve additional costs for travel to be agreed. Mount and framing
can be provided at additional costs.
Please get in touch for clarification on any of the aspects of commission
outlined above or if you have further questions or require further
details.
